HOSPICE CNA/HOMEMAKER
Position Summary
The Hospice CNA/Homemaker provides compassionate personal care, emotional support, and essential household assistance to patients receiving end‑of‑life services. This role promotes comfort, dignity, and quality of life by supporting both the patient and their caregivers in the home or facility setting. The CNA/Homemaker works under the supervision of the hospice nurse and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care (CNA Duties)
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
• Provide safe mobility support such as transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
• Perform comfort-focused care including skin care, oral hygiene, hair care, and basic range‑of‑motion exercises.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition, behavior, or needs to the supervising nurse.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the patient.
Homemaker Services
• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, linen changes, dusting, and tidying patient areas.
• Assist with meal preparation according to patient preferences and dietary needs.
• Support caregivers by helping maintain an organized and functional home environment.
• Run essential errands as permitted by agency policy (e.g., picking up groceries or supplies).
