FULL TIME ULTRASOUND POSITION
At Clay County Hospital Healthcare Authority, Sonographers provide high quality imaging to assist in delivering first rate patient care. We are seeking a candidate to work full time, this will include some weekends, and call will be taken during the week and on assigned weekends. The candidate needs to be able to work with minimal supervision and have exceptional communication skills, a passion for patient care, and a willingness to learn and grow new skills. Must have a desire to work as a team with others in the radiology department and surrounding departments. The ideal candidate will be proficient in the following area of sonography: Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, Breast, and other small parts. The candidate must be willing to go to surgery/ assist physicians with procedures where ultrasound guidance is necessary. The candidate also must be willing to learn x-ray and ct if the candidate is not an ARRT pathway to ultrasound. We are looking for a companionate and skilled sonographer to join our team that works closely with radiologist, physicians, and other staff to ensure comprehensive patient care and demonstrates good technical judgment when accessing the needs of a patent for imaging while being compliant with sonography protocols designed for each exam.
OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE
Perform ultrasound ordered by the physicians while adhering to protocols set up for specific exams
Explaining the ultrasound procedure to the patient, answering any questions they may have, and providing support
Use the appropriate transducer to examine patient while adjusting machine settings as needed to produce quality images
Obtain patient history, previous exams, or other information needed by the radiologist
Transfer patients to and from exam rooms
Transfer patient on and off exam tables
Operating any and all radiological equipment safely and within the guidelines set forth
Communicate with the radiologist and physicians as necessary
Learning x-ray and CT, if candidate is not a ARRT pathway to ultrasound, so that you may assist with workload in department when able to
Obtain correct and appropriate sonographic measurements for both normal and abnormal structures
RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate sonographic images for quality and accuracy
Complete exams in a timely manner
Communicating with radiologist and physicians as necessary
Ensure ultrasound room and probes are disinfected and properly cleaned after each patient and set up for the next patient
Properly label images and input information needed by the radiologist
Assist Radiology department when there are no ultrasound patient present
Assist physician/surgeon with ultrasound guided procedures
Taking call for ultrasound studies on assigned days
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of accredited sonography institution or ARRT pathway to ultrasound
ARDMSCCI Registered or Registry eligible
Ability to work with the general public and provide a high standard of patient care
Experience with the following sonography exams:
Vascular
-Carotids
-Venous Doppler (upper and lower extremity)
-Arterial Doppler (upper and lower extremity)
-Reflux study
Abdominal
-Abdomen (complete and limited)
-Renal and bladder
Small parts
-Breast
-Testicular
-Thyroid
-Musculoskeletal
OB/GYN
-Transabdominal
-Transvaginal
Echo experience is a plus but not necessary
Must be able to take call during the week and rotating weekends
Must be able to work weekend and holidays
